Everyone nowadays prefers marble or tiles but wooden flooring is gaining popularity.  Even in wooden flooring you can find different varieties like bamboo flooring, oak flooring, timber flooring etc. These types of wooden floors can be categorized as hardwood flooring, solid wood flooring and engineered wood flooring. Talking about Timber flooring, this type of flooring is prominently used in hilly regions because in such regions there is a high content of moisture and easy availability of wood.  It is not apt for that region where there is high dampness.  You can also find timber flooring in auditoriums and dancing halls. There is a 15cm layer of cement used to cover the area underneath the wooden flooring. The support given by cement concrete is very essential, it is known as bridging joists, they are fixed to wall plates at their ends and they are supported by sleeper walls which are about 10 cm thick. They are used to lessen the pan for the bridging joists. The sleeper walls are spaced away from each other and they are honeycombed which helps in free circulation of air in the space underneath the floor. Sleeper plates which are longitudinal timber members are then nailed on to the sleeper walls. A layer of dam-proof course is spread over the wall plates which will curb the soaring of dampness. This is how the timber flooring is fixed in the houses, the process of installation is very complex but these flooring gives a unique look to your house.
